My Filemaker Pro Programming Standards: Project Standards

This page is part of the internal FileMaker Pro programming standards of Lutz Pietschker. No claims of any sort can be derived from the description of these standards. In particular, no claim can be made that these standards are complete and without errors, and that any of my software projects follow to these standards in part or completely.

This document describes the standards that are valid for FileMaker projects.

FileMaker Language Setting

Except by explicit wish of the customer, the project language is English.

Note: To set FileMaker to English language under MacOSX, independent of the OS language setting, do this:

  1. Find the FileMaker application in the Applications/Filemaker Pro 7 or Applications/Filemaker Developer 7 folder and select it.
  2. Open the information panel for this file (cmd-I).
  3. Open the languages tab
  4. De-select all languages except English.

Now FileMaker will always use the English GUI because it can not use any other.
